The WIC Program is increasing the variety of foods provided to the WIC clients beginning on October 1, 2009. In addition to the new foods, Fruits and Vegetables will be distributed through a new check called a Cash Value Voucher (CVV). This will be a WIC Check that is written for up to a specific dollar value; $6, $8, $10, or $15. The CVV will be used to purchase fresh, frozen, and/or canned fruits and vegetables. Multiple CVVs may be combined into one transaction, and WIC customers may purchase more than the value of the CVV if the WIC customer chooses to pay the difference with cash, check, credit, Food Stamps, or some other form of payment.
Your store must be prepared with these foods and the ability to process the CVV on October 1, 2009.
